Environment, Health and Safety Specialist

(12 months contract)

Responsibilities

  • Improves safety culture and implements plan that strives to zero incidents, zero injuries and zero environmental releases.
  • Teams with EHS team and operating Divisions in development and execution of EHS Management System Standards, Implementation Plans and programs.
  • Collaborates with Departments to completes hazard reviews and risk assessments.
  • Conducts Industrial Hygiene assessments and works with the Departments to implement controls as required.
  • Facilitates the JHSC as a coach.
  • Provides Environmental support to the site in the management of the programs and prepares Regulatory Submissions
  • Reviews process safety standards for combustible dust and flammable liquids.
  • Input local data into Teva EHS databases
  • Tracks EHS Key Performance Indicator metrics.
  • Provide EHS guidance in the investigation and identification of preventative actions related to workplace incidents.
  • Provide guidance to employees on the proper use and maintenance of safety-related equipment.
  • Prepare communication bulletins to increase awareness of EHS requirements and initiatives.
  • Develop and conduct interactive EHS training.
  • Work with project managers to ensure contractors are aware of requirements.
  • All actions taken are to support the EHS culture through continuous coaching of employees and management.

 

Qualifications

You will be successful in this position if you enjoy working with others and creating awareness about EHS programs and practices. 

 

One of your strengths is your communication style.  You are able to break down complex information and influence others to action using your logical and fact based approach.  You can build collaboration and engage support for EHS practices.

 

You can work independently and are able to manage multiple requests.  You can analyze situations to determine priority and can make decisions based on short term and long term plans.

 

You are analytical, evaluate and solve problems using a variety of sources to ensure you are making informed decisions.

 

You will also have:

  • Degree in Health and Safety or Related Studies (Masters in Industrial Hygiene preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (≥5 years preferred)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent command of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
